Overview

R&M, one of the UK’s largest corporate travel management companies, approached us some years ago with a communications challenge. How to galvanise their sales team, which is critical to the success of the company, and make them feel more valued and included in the business? The answer was to host regular R&M conferences and team-building days and use video not only to communicate the corporate vision but also to involve the staff. And so we have not only been producing video content for these conference days but also filming the conferences themselves so that those who are not able to attend can view at their leisure online. Since then the use of video has been extended to include tutorial and learning content.

“Amazing” Conference //

Objectives

To produce emotive content to engage the employees attending the “Amazing” themed annual conference. And also to capture the team-building activity on the day itself and deliver in a two hour turn-around time.

Approach

We adopted various approaches to celebrate the many ways that Reed & Mackay is amazing…. Employee’s nominating each other as amazing, the company’s achievements, client testimonials and playing with the word itself allowed us to include a great many of the work-force in the content creation process – making it feel more inclusive. R&M also decided to include some amazing personal stories of “triumph over adversity” which were very well received.

Roles

Working with the R&M team we remained low profile deploying a single-person resource to shoot and edit the content prior to the conference and then a two-man crew on the day itself.

Client Insights //

Objectives

As part of R&M’s ongoing mission to improve customers service it was decided to interview a number of their key clients to hear exactly what they thought of the service and how it might be improved.

Approach

Working with the marketing team at R&M we identified which clients might make suitable subjects for the content and then approached them with our filming request. This was the hard part. The easy part was to film them expressing their opinions.

Roles

Producing, Directing, Shooting and Scripting…plus client liaison.

Conference Capturing //

Objectives

To produce a very low-cost video production of R&M’s regular Conference and Mini-Conference output. These edits are turned round in just two hours and the majority of this time is taken uploading the content onto the intranet server from where employees can log in to view.

Approach

Given the cost sensitivity the approach is as skinny as it can get. A one-man resource (camera/editor) will film the conference with two cameras – a static wide go-pro from the side and a manned master camera from the back of the room. These videos are intended to be purely functional and so they come with no frills.

Roles

Multi-skilled Director/Camera/Editor

Example: R&M Summer Mini Conference

Learning //

Objectives

With video now at the heart of R&M’s communications strategy it’s application has now been extended to Learning – especially important for staff not in the London office unable to attend the live sessions.

Approach

As with the mini-conference coverage the approach is very simple – the content being more important than the format.

Roles

Producing, Directing, Shooting and Editing for same day turnaround.
